The adult of this species is orange on the thorax and the basal half of each forewing, and brown on the other half of each forewing, with a white line dividing the colours. The brown half also contains an orange spot. The hindwings are brown, each with a white spot. The moth has a wingspan of about 5 cms.
The species is found from India across Thailand to the northern half of Australia.
