The caterpillar is sometimes a pest in India, particularly on :

  • Princess Tree ( Paulownia tomentosa, SCROPHULARIACEAE ), and
  • Makandi ( Coleus forskohlii LAMIACEAE ).

The caterpillar lives in a shelter created by a curled leaf held in shape with silk. It feeds on the leaf from inside its shelter.

It pupates inside its leafy shelter.

The adult moth is white or pale yellow with a number of brown spots around the edges of the wings. The wingspan is about 3 cms.

The eggs are usually laid on the young shoots of a foodplant.

The species is found across south-east Asia, including :

  • India,
  • Japan,
    as well as
  • Queensland in Australia.
