[I saved this email to mail/davidw]

Here are some sources of information that might help people designing
multiple choice exams.

Actually, the best place to start is to analyze your past MCQ exams. I've
attached "Bulletin No. 5", from the UNSW testing centre. If you've had
your exam marked by them in the past, and you still have the report, then
this document will tell you what some of the numbers mean.

I've also attached another word document that has some hints on MCQ
writing, the Test Item Writing Workbook for the American Board of
Neuroscience Nursing.

Here's a few links I've collected (I think they're still current) ...

Subject: Databases reminder

Reminder about some new databases

I thought it might be time to remind people about some of the newer
databases the library now has access to:

Web of Science 1997+
http://www.lib.uts.edu.au/cgi/dbgenerate-titles.cgi?w
This is the Science Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index, and
Arts & Humanities Citation Index.
Choose "Full search". You use this database in three main ways: (1) like
a normal database - to search for articles (published in or later than
1997) on a topic, or by an author, or by authors at a particular
institution; (2) to see the full reference list of a known article
(published in or later than 1997); (3) "Cited Ref Search": you can find
all the articles that cite a particular article, or articles by a
particular author (published in or later than 1997), in their reference
list.

OVUM reports
http://www.lib.uts.edu.au/cgi/dbgenerate-titles.cgi?o
OVUM is a research and consulting company offering advice on information
technology and telecommunications. We have access to all their research
reports.

IEEExplore and ACM Digital Library
http://www.lib.uts.edu.au/cgi/dbgenerate-titles.cgi?i
http://www.lib.uts.edu.au/cgi/dbgenerate-titles.cgi?a
Full text online (pdf format) of all IEEE, IEE and ACM journals,
conferences and standards back to the mid-1980's (except conference
proceedings which only have full text back to the mid-1990's).

Note also that the library catalogue now has links directly to most of
the online journals we subscribe to. Just go to
http://orac.lib.uts.edu.au/
and do a JOURNAL TITLE search on the name of your journal. If we have
access to online text, there should be a link to it - sometimes there
are several links, usually (but not always) indicated by "electronic
source" or "computer file".

Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me or John
(John.Mueller@uts.edu.au) if you need help with accessing or using any
of these.
