Call for Presentations First Melbourne Computing Education Conventicle Venue: Monash University, Caulfield Campus Date: 16 June 2004 (http://cerg.csse.monash.edu.au/conventicle2004/) [Conventicle: a secret unauthorized meeting for religious worship.] All interested parties are invited to submit a paper to the First Melbourne Computing Education Conventicle (MCEC). The Conventicle is a one-day conference that aims to support academics teaching in the IT discipline or using computer technology in their teaching. It will provide an opportunity for sharing of ideas and for the development of collaborations. Papers are solicited in all areas of IT education, but should fall into one of the following categories: - a paper published in a refereed conference or journal within the past 12 months; - a paper recently accepted for a refereed conference or journal; - an older paper which is of topical interest. Submissions will not be formally refereed, but each submission will be read by at least one person from a small committee. The primary criteria for selection will be the potential interest of the paper to the Conventicle audience. While it is expected that the majority of attendees will be academics from the Melbourne area, submissions are welcome from interstate. This event follows the success of the Sydney Region IT Education Conventicles held over the last 3 years. Another similar event will be held in Queensland in May. The format of the Conventicle will consist of a series of 30 minute presentations (including questions) and opportunities to chat over lunch and coffee. Proceedings will not be produced. To submit a paper: 1. Email a copy of your paper in Word or PDF format to judy.sheard@infotech.monash.edu.au or angela.carbone@infotech.monash.edu.au 2. Please also provide details of the conference or journal to which your paper was accepted, and the name of the person who will present the paper at MCEC and their contact details. Papers should be submitted by Monday 10 May 2004. Presenters will be notified by 21 May. If you don't submit a paper, put the date in your diary and come along. We'll send more information a bit later. If you are not on the original emailing list for this announcement, but would like to receive future email announcements about this event, please email judy.sheard@infotech.monash.edu.au.
