Abstract
This study’s objective was to develop a new model to classify mobile payment systems. Analysis of current classifying models revealed their lack of user’s perspective. The new model proposed in this paper focuses on the consumer. The classification criteria have been derived from analyzing existing m-payment systems, and their distinct characteristics visible to the consumer. This new user-centric model will make is possible to discover more about consumers’ motivations and preferences. Ultimately, key success factors leading to consumer’s acceptance of a new m-payment system can be identified, and used to develop new successful systems.
